Abstract

While vacationing is a common practice for most families today, it was almost unimaginable in the mid-20th century. This article traces the emergence of vacation habits among the population of Međimurje by drawing primarily on the Međimurje weekly newspaper, as well as existing literature and statistical yearbooks. It examines the construction of roads and the increase in the number of vehicles, legal regulations related to vacations, the construction of holiday resorts, and, ultimately, the vacationing of workers‘ collectives. The company Čateks is used as an example, as it has the most available sources.
