Sažetak

The Ukraine-Russia crisis has had a significant impact on political developments in Europe, strengthening right-wing and nationalist parties and their rhetoric about the “protection of national interests” from external threats. These parties frequently portray immigrants as a threat to national security and cultural identity. This rhetoric, which has been intensified by the crisis in Ukraine and its impact on the global economy and security, is often utilised by right-wing parties to underscore the necessity for stricter measures to protect national borders and internal stability. The Ukraine-Russia crisis has heightened feelings of insecurity and vulnerability among EU and non-EU citizens, enabling right-wing parties to present themselves as defenders of national interests and security. Consequently, right-wing parties use the crisis to highlight the need for stricter controls, greater national sovereignty, and criticism of international institutions, which can further exacerbate feelings of insecurity and societal polarisation. They frequently depict immigration, terrorism, and international tensions as primary threats to national security, using these issues as arguments to strengthen their political positions.
