Sažetak
Planning, as one of the functions of management, is present in the police organisation at all organisational levels and is the exclusive competence of the leading police officers and represents the backbone of the activities of a particular organisational unit. In this paper, the most important components of operational planning at the organisational level of the police station and the speciality of planning are described, and their content and goals are explained through direct examples. The content of this paper represents an attempt to understand the importance of planning in the daily work of a police manager at the operational or tactical level. By emphasising experiential views on practical problems, planning is presented through challenges in the light of aspirations and risks that are placed in front of the manager, by analysing his value judgments and doubts that affect planning. Operational response is emphasised in the timely consideration of the need for a planned approach to the execution of tasks, and therefore, appropriate handling of security challenges that are found in the daily functioning of the organisational level where the police station belongs.
