Sažetak
Osteogenesis imperfecta or brittle bone desease is a condition which causes fragility, weakness and easy brittleness of bones, and affected children need a holistic approach to prevent additional difficulties. This rare desease is insufficiently represented in the Croatian academic community, and the accessible literature is predominantly medical. Hence, there appeared a need to raise awearness of preschool education experts which are one of the key participants in providing support to children with the diagnosis of osteogenesis imperfecta. For the purpose of better understanding of their condition, this article describes the diagnosis, symptoms, treatment, characteristics of affected children, as well as the ways of adaption in work and in relation to the child, peers, medical professionals and other experts in the field of education. Professional and scientific literature is included in order to provide the necessary support and ease the selection of adequate didactic and methodological approaches in working with this group of children.
