Sažetak

Introduction: In modern healthcare systems, effective communication is crucial for ensuring patient safety and high-quality care. SBAR (Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation) is a standardized tool for structured communication among healthcare professionals that enhances teamwork, reduces the risk of misunderstandings, and improves patient safety. This study aims to explore how the implementation of SBAR improves communication and collaboration within healthcare teams.
Methods: A literature review was conducted using Medline, PubMed, ScienceDirect, and CINAHL databases, with keywords including "SBAR", "teamwork", "healthcare communication", "patient safety", and "nurse-physician collaboration". The analysis included studies published between 2010 and 2024 that examined the effects of SBAR implementation in healthcare settings.
Results and Discussion: The SBAR model enables clear, concise, and precise information exchange, reducing communication errors that may lead to misunderstandings and medical mistakes. Studies have shown that SBAR improves team coordination, reduces stress among healthcare professionals, and increases trust among team members. Additionally, the implementation of SBAR has improved the perception of patient safety and facilitated more efficient clinical decision-making.
Conclusion: The implementation of the SBAR model in healthcare institutions offers significant benefits in improving communication and team collaboration. Standardized information exchange helps reduce the risk of misunderstandings, enhances patient safety, and improves professional relationships among healthcare professionals. Further research should focus on examining the long-term impact of the SBAR method on the quality of care and staff satisfaction.
