Sažetak
The paper presents a case study of the processing and description of fonds the Ethnographic Museum in Zagreb (EMZ) within the new National Archival Information System (NAIS), currently in use in the Republic of Croatia and colloquially known as eArhiv. Using the example of the Ethnographic Museum in Zagreb fonds, the author aims to provide an overview of the differences observed in the already-described EMZ fonds across previous systems (ARHiNET, NAIS, HAIS), which largely relied on the archival description standards that were until recently widely accepted i.e. primarily ISAD(G), and to a lesser extent ISAAR(CPF), ISDF, and ISDIAH. Processing and description of the fonds are examined and presented with tables and visual templates developed during the final entry of the fonds into the central archival information system (NAIS i.e. eArhiv). The author provides basic information on the history of the fonds’ creator, the acquisition of the records by the Croatian State Archives, and the stateof arrangement prior to professional processing. A brief overview is given of previous archival information systems in Croatia (Armida, ArhIS, ARHiNET, NAIS, and HAIS). The paper also addresses the new legislative framework that encourages and regulates the rules and procedures for digitising archival records in the Republic of Croatia. Furthermore, the study touches upon the conceptual model Records in Contexts (RiC) and its influence on archival practice. In this context, the impact of public online catalogues on archival description is alsodiscussed, highlighting the need to introduce the new conceptual model Recordsin Contexts (RiC) into Croatian archival practice.
