Sažetak

Subaortic stenosis (SAS) is a congenital cardiac malformation characterized by a narrowing of the left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) beneath the aortic valve. In cats, it is observed less frequently than in dogs; however, it is recognized as an important etiological factor in cardiac pathology. The morphology of the subvalvular lesion varies from numerous small fibrous plaques on the endocardial surface of the left ventricular outflow tract to the development of a fibrous ring immediately subjacent to the aortic valve, the valve may also be affected. This article presents the gross and histologic findings of subaortic stenosis in a cat, necropsied at the Department of Veterinary Pathology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Zagreb.
