Sažetak
This paper analyzes verbal strategies for expressing future-time reference in the Breviary of Vid of Omišalj (abbr. BrVO), a Croatian Glagolitic manuscript from the late 14th century, characterized by archaic linguistic features and a higher presence of texts translated from Greek. Corpus analysis has shown that there are no significant deviations from the Croatian Church Slavonic norm (present-tense forms, iměti, včęti, hotěti, budu + infinitive, budu + l-participle). Furthermore, statistical analysis has indicated that the primary form for expressing future-time reference is the present tense of perfective verbs, and that, regarding the frequency of other future forms, certain differences exist between the first (2a–110d) and the second (379a–468b) analyzed section of the breviary. Specifically, the linguistic state found in the latter parts of the manuscript corresponds more closely to the older, Old Church Slavonic layer, which appears to be connected to the tradition of translating texts from Greek.
