Abstract

The paper aims to highlight a lesser-known aspect of the Council of Nicaea—its disciplinary role, expressed through twenty canons organized by topic—and to examine how these canons laid down fundamental principles that became the indispensable cornerstone of the legislation of the Latin, or Western, Church over the centuries.
