The Position and Role of Women through Historical Epochs. From Prehistory to Today

Abstract
The paper deals with the issue of women’s dignity and their position in society from the beginnings of human civilization to the present day, when it is endangered by various ideological efforts of certain theorists. The paper is divided into several parts that provide a continuous, chronological overview of the position and role women have had throughout history – from the humble and silent woman, whose only duty was giving birth to offspring, preferably male, to the feminist movements of the nineteenth century, which brought reforms for women in all areas. These movements resulted in basic rights in the twentieth century. In this field, in recent decades, equality has been undermined in the name of equality. It is necessary to raise awareness of the importance of the female element in this technological society, because women are the ones who bring humanity, through love and understanding, into all structures of society.
