Abstract
Mental health is influenced by biological, psychological, social, and spiritual factors. In contemporary society, attitudes toward work have significantly changed across most professions. High competitiveness and perfectionism are increasingly common in demanding occupations, which can lead to prolonged exposure to stress and, consequently, burnout syndrome. Long-term stress exposure poses a high risk for the development of burnout, especially in high-responsibility professions that require constant availability, such as medicine and management. Mental health symptoms are often interconnected with somatic health. Psychodynamic explanations and the analysis of emotions—particularly the master emotions of shame and guilt—can substantially contribute to a better understanding and treatment of burnout syndrome and managerial disease, while also enhancing resilience in both professional and personal life.
