THE “KAJOM“ OF THE HOMELAND WAR The Kajkavian Production of the KAJ Periodical in the Thematic and Timeline Context of Homeland Wartime Reality

Summary:
The goal of the article is to research the Kaj journal's profiling during the Homeland War since the reality of the times put forward specific priority tasks in respect to overall proceedings. The subject of war and contextual social issues is intense and comprehensive. Preoccupation with it goes beyond the official war duration time (1991 – 1995), and so the work deals with immediate post-war production, indicating certain continuity in the Kajkavian literature corpus, especially that of poetry.
Due to the fact that Kaj with its mere existence permanently reviews the „strong“ language system (standard language) by affirming its „weak“ elements (substandard), the war situation brings only a nominal difference: created with the idea-mission to defend the weaker/Second, i.e. the Kajkavian Croatian identity sequence, the defence subject in the new context is the overall national complex as the weaker one. In the works of the analysed authors who are acting outside the Kajkavian language boundaries, the continuity of ideas and functioning is articulate – insistence on the darkness metaphor, “kmica, tmica”, night… not only as the mark of the moment in time, but as the dominant characteristic of Kajkavian poetry; the modernist as well as (post)modernist creative practice.
