Incunabula are very rare and old printed books created in the first decades after the invention of the printing press. The Franciscans, as the most influential Catholic order in the late Middle Ages, played a significant role in collecting incunabula. Their fundamental task of pastoral and liturgical character contributed to the spread of literacy and cultural heritage. The libraries of Franciscan monasteries are rich collections of old books and early printed material, and we can add to them the character of valuable historical heritage that is still a direct witness to historical, social and cultural events from the ancient past. The library of the Franciscan monastery in Našice, with its holdings, emphasizes the importance of the religious and educational expression of the Franciscans and their dedication to acquiring and storing old, significant and rare books from the past. The exceptional heritage value of the monastery library in Našice is represented by a collection of 10 incunabula, which represent rare printed copies of books from the early days of printing. This paper presents an analysis of the collection of ten incunabula from the Franciscan monastery in Našice, created using the method of photography and detection using the de visu principle. The main goal of this paper is to present, through an analysis of the external appearance and typographic analysis of the content of the collection of incunabula, the exceptional heritage value of the materials of the monastery library in Našice, which is reflected in the storage and preservation of old and valuable, few books from the first decade of printing. The fundamental task of the monastery library is to provide insight into exceptionally rare materials of a historical and cultural character from the initial period of printing and to save them from oblivion and to strictly preserve them as a historical treasury of rare cultural heritage. The library of the Franciscan monastery in Našice is a rich treasury of significant and rare historical book materials that still serves as a precious source for the study of early printing, language and culture. By digitizing incunabula as valuable and rare cultural heritage, we ensure the protection and permanent availability of the Glagolitic tradition for future generations.
