Abstract
The importance of procurement management and the motivation of team members are intertwined and essentially inseparable concepts, both concepts cannot function separately in practice. The aim of the paper is to investigate the importance of procurement management in companies, and then the motivation of procurement team members, that is, what influences their motivation, which ultimately results in better results. For the purposes of the research, direct surveys were conducted with employees of the procurement sector, managers, directors of companies in the Republic of Croatia. Through direct communication and targeted surveys, precise and unique results were obtained that enabled concrete conclusions. The generalization approach was based on moving from individual specificities to general
concepts, and a descriptive method was also used to interpret the results. The paper contributes to the development of procurement management, with its targeted and specific research covering a sector that has become a key and strategic function in the modern economy. Awareness of the importance of the procurement sector and the importance of investing in procurement employees directly affect the competitiveness of the entire company, affect the increase in profits and increase in competitive advantage.
