Abstract
Climate change, through its impact on agriculture, poses a potential threat to humanity in terms of reducing food production. The biggest problems are visible through the increase in temperature and the unpredictable distribution of precipitation during the growing season. In the above-mentioned extreme conditions, which have become the rule, not the exception, in recent years, agricultural production is unable to achieve the desired yields. Recognizing climate change, understanding the consequences and the adaptation process are essential for the survival of the agricultural economy. The aim of the research is to determine the opinion of agricultural producers from the Slavonian region on the impact of climate change on their activities, the possibilities of business adaptation, and the views of producers on the importance of using renewable energy sources to improve the energy efficiency of the economy were also considered. The research involved 176 agricultural producers engaged in various types of agricultural production from the Slavonian region. The results indicate that the respondents are aware of the climatic changes that affect their activities, but the recommended climate change adaptation measures are still more difficult for them to apply due to the investments they require. The opinions of agricultural producers about the greatest threat to their business can serve as a basis for raising awareness of future strategies for more effective development of agriculture in the region of Slavonia.
