Abstract

High quality health care system is a prerequisite for the functioning and development of community in general. The most developed world economies, as well as those less developed place great importance on this issue. Undoubtedly, all the achievements in the field of quality science can be put to the greatest use precisely in the field of health care, whose primary function is to ensure the best possible quality of life for its citizens. As result, the most developed countries invest significant funds in the development and implementation of quality management systems in the field of health care. One of the questions this paper will try to answer is the situation in Croatia regarding this issue. In addition, this paper provides a brief reference to the development of quality management systems, specific nature of their implementation in the health care system, as well as benefits that can be derived through implementation of the before mentioned systems.
