“THE BIGGEST WHOLE” FUNCTION AND “THE FRACTIONAL PART” FUNCTION

Sažetak

The notion of function is one of the most important topics in mathematics. Pupils encounter functions already in the first grade of the primary school when summing up two natural numbers (naturally, the topic is not named), in the second grade the notion of function is related to multiplication of two natural numbers, etc.
The paper deals with the elementary theory of two functions, “the biggest whole” function and “the fractional part” function, whom the pupils encounter in secondary school. The domain of these functions is a group of real numbers, and the codomain, for the first one is the group of whole numbers and half-interval for the second one 0, 1.
