Sažetak
To investigate the effect of higher dietary level of organic selenium on the growing performances, immune and health status, two groups of weaned piglets, crossbreed (LWxSL) x Pietrein, the same sex proportions, age 28 to 70 days were used. The control group (C) was supplemented with 0.4 mg/kg of organic Se in yeast (Sel-Plex®, Alltech Inc®). The experimental group (E) was supplemented with 0.7 mg/kg of organic Se in yeast (Sel-Plex, Alltech Inc). Body weight, body weight gain, hematological and biochemical parameters (glucose, urea, creatinine, cholesterol, HDL and LDL cholesterol, total proteins, triglycerides), enzyme activities (aspartate aminotransferase-AST, alanine aminotransferase-ALT, alkaline phosphatase-ALP, gamaglutamyltransferase-GGT, lactate dehydrogenase-LDH, creatine kinase-CK, C-reactive protein-CRP), and mineral levels (iron-Fe, calcium- Ca) were measured on 21st and 41st day of trial. Experimental group (E) piglets fed on elevated level of organic selenium obtain better body weight, significantly higher (p<0.05) body weight gain and food conversion during 41 day of trial. Enzyme activity of AST, ALT, GGT, LDH, CK, LDH/AST ratio and value of CRP were not changed. Significant differences of hematological and biochemical parameters between groups were not established. However, on 21st day of the trial, lower concentrations of total and LDL cholesterol in the experimental group were established, but without significant differences.
