Abstract
Theoretical and practical problems of mechanization of milking of cows have been studied. Machine milking was organized involving several thousands of cows, and through the courses several hundreds of milkers were qualified in Socialist Autonomos Province of Vojvodina. As in the large society owned farms of this Province mainly pipe line system of milking machines is installed, the method for this particular type of milking has been worked out. The milking process is divided into three parts: preparation of cows, milking and stripping. This division is not only of theoretical importance for study of the physiology of emptying of udder (ejection) but also of practical importance for the machine milking itself. However in the process of milking of cows it is assumed that the man is performing preparation of the cow, machine milks and the stripping is done by mail and machine. The aim of preparation of cows for milking in order to induce one conditional reflex for release of oxytocin for all the cows of the herd and to determine the necessary moment of its secretion is the moment for ejection for each cow which is to be milked individually. Starting by this situation, the teat tops are receptors or reflective zones respectively, for the stimulation of secretion of oxytocin. In the present work, an explanation has been done concering the method of stimulating secretion of oxytocin, performed by the milker. As the milking is accomplished by the machine, the work of teat cup liners in the sense of further stimulation of receptors or emptying of the udder was explained. In the third part of milking, the stripping, theoretical assumptions have been elaborated as well as the practical methods of work with machines and of udder massage with the aim of more complete emptying of the udder. At the end of paper the method and sequences of milking of cows in the barn was presented. The faults which mostly occur in the practice using mechanical milkers are described and proposals have been given for their elimination.
