Abstract

There are many specific numbers in mathematics, i.e. Fibonacci numbers, Mersenne numbers, Catalan numbers, Bernoulli numbers and so on. Many of these numbers are studied in detail and there are many papers about their properties. Stirling numbers are an example of that kind of numbers. We are going to say something about them in this article. We will define Stirling numbers of first and second kind and explain how we can calculate with them. We will also show some relations which hold for them.

Keywords

Stirling number of first kind; Stirling number of second kind; cycle; permutation; partition; subset; set; binomial coefficients
