Abstract

Within the general theory of law several attempts have been made to define the law. Among such jurisprudential attempts, Kantoworwicz and Hart offered quite influential definitions with a shared characteristic of focusing on the concept of adjudication. Considering that both definitions seem suitable for different normative systems, in this article the applicability of Kantorwicz and Hart`s insights will be examined within the international normative system. Such an attempt could facilitate the systematization of the international norms and indicate the possibilities for further development of the international law.
