Abstract

Sustained economic growth in a open economy is strongly depending on exogenous technological progress. Economic growth in Croatia in the last decade was relaying rather on the “old economy”, while new technologies penetrated neither in private nor in public sector in order to be credited as an engine of growth. Via a survey conducted among 500 large Croatian corporations the research attempt it to demonstrate the penetration of Internet in public sector in Croatia, and influence the Internet technologies on amount of profit and growth rates in Croatian corporations. Conclusion is that economic growth in Croatia, which was lower than in other EU countries, hasn’t been satisfying because of lower investments in new Internet technologies and low penetration of Internet business models, but if medium sized and large companies in Croatia increase the impact of Internet technologies than they will have the great results on amount of profit and grown rates.
