Abstract

The sea as a natural resource covers more than 2/3 of the enire Earth's surface. At any given moment, no sea surface, in its depths, as well as in the air space above the sea surface, a series of different activities is taking place – from natural ones to the ones conditioned by human activity. The protection of that space is imposed as one of the most important issues. Therefore, the countries decide to implement different institutional forms to protect that space. In this article, the author describes the formation and organization of the coast guards in world framework as one of the institutional forms of sea space protection, with special emphasis put on the United States Coast Guard.
