Abstract

Motivated by recent discussions about sexual education in schools, the article presents an investigation aimed to examine theatre in education (TIE) as medium for that type of education. A TIE programme was developed specifically for that purpose. It was performed in six elementary schools for 395 students. The efficiency was examined through observation and questionnaires. The analysis of the audience response led to the conclusion that TIE is an adequate medium for discussion about puberty and sexuality. Besides that, the investigation suggested which structural characteristics such programmes need in order to achieve educational aims.
