Abstract
Entrepreneurship is as old as human society. The term is used every day for various purposes. It has general economic and social importance. However, the concept and characteristics of entrepreneurship are not sufficiently standardized or systematized. The term “entrepreneurship” is used for various purposes, and often without a proper purpose. The aim of this study was to show the diversity of conceptions of the term “entrepreneurship” as well as the complexity of its characteristics. It also aims to give a definition of the term, which could be used on a daily basis both in professional circles and colloquially. It is especially important to consider entrepreneurship as a key competence of lifelong learning. In this sense, entrepreneurship is a system of knowledge, skills and attitudes beyond the economic framework.
