Abstract

The character metamorphosis in post-industrial reality is analysed in this paper by opposing the urban against the rural environment. This is verifi ed through the changes of the characters trying to determine self-identity in the processes of self-maturation. The social system is characterised by the loss of traditional values, thus preventing positive identification with the mythical characters. The characters, therefore, seek answers and solutions to their self characterisation by looking around themselves and stressing their own contempt of the conventions and social conformism. The symbolic creation of the new life in the process of metamorphosis starts through the realisation and upon the construction of their own microcosm, thus enabling mental separation. Creation and procreation are pointed out as the propulsive components of self-maturation and separation from their own symbionism.
