Abstract

This stylistic interpretation deals with an oral nonfiction story that the author has recorded at Komiža on the island of Vis. It is a kind of oral story called f a c e n d a (the local term) belonging to the m e m o r a t e type, as defined by C. W. Sydow.
This stylistical research is based on fonological, morfological, syntactical and semantical aspects of the verbal expression. In the analysis of the syntacto-stylematic values the author applies the method of the compound sentence transformation. By this analytic treatment the process of the syntacto-stylematic creation is parsed into several phases.
The author points out the possibility of factionalyzing a nonfictional content of the story in the narrator’s act of literary creativity. In his analysis the author proves that possibility and he corroborates thus his basic thesis that this uninvestigated oral narrative kind of the Mediterranean cultural circle belongs to literature.
