Abstract

A list is furnished of the algae collected from the brook of Cerno- merec near Zagreb in 1969. In total 125 species and 22 forms and variations were determined. From these, 103 species and all of the 26 forms and variations belong to Bacillariophyceae, 7 species are Cyanophyta, two species are Euglenophyta and one species belongs to Heterocontae.
In addition to numerous ubiquistes and other usual inhabitants of Central European waters, several forms new to the flora of Yugoslavia were determined, such as Cocconeis thumensis Mayer, Comphonema sphaeroporum Ehr., Pinnularia leptosoma Grun., Achnantes marginulata Grun., Hantzschia virgata var. capitulata Hust. Certain forms of genera Navicula and Surirella showing several characteristics unknown so far have been discovered. A considerable number of biological indicators could also be determined among the diatoms (Table 1).
It is significant that many of the determined species are of halophy- tic character. In addition to about 20 facultative halophytic forms 12 true halophytes were also found (Table 2).
Detailed data abuot the habitats and spreading are given in the systematic list of all the species and forms found.
