Abstract

Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) was isolated from the following plants which grew in Botanical Garden of Zagreb University: Aristolochia clematitis, Hesperis dinarica, Nicandra physaloides and Sonchus oleraceus. On the basis of investigations by test plants, serological experiments, light microscopic investigations and partially by analysis of thermal inactivation point, the four virus isolates represented green strains of CMV. All four isolates are very similar mutually both serologically and according to symptoms on test plants. It is not impossible that they represent one strain of CMV only. The investigated isolates are very similar to B12 strain of CMV described by Juretic (1968). The latter strain was isolated on the same locality as the four investigated isolates.
