Abstract
The island of Krk belongs to Kvarner islands situated in the large gulf between the Istrian Peninsula and the Croatian Littoral. Punat is situated on the island of Krk in a well protected Bay. In the middle of the Bay there is a tiny island Košljun. The total area is 68.500 m2. Ca. 65% of it is covered by forest of holm oak and ash (as. Orno-Querce- tum ilicis). Deciduous trees predominate in the forest, especially holm oak (Quercus ilex), ash (Fraximus ornus) and laurel (Laurus nonbilis). In places there are conifers (Pinus halepensis, P. nigra, P. pinea, Cupressus sempervirens, Cedrus libani, Thuja orientalis).
Instigating the vegetation of Kosljun, the author has found a number of fungi. Nobody seems to have dealt so far with the flora of fungi on the island of Krk or the islet of Kosljun. This is the first time that 111 species of fungi, classified into 30 families have been listed. They are all limited to woods and their margins.
The majority of fungi recorded are terricolous (69.4%), and the others are lignicolous (30.6%). Most of the lignicolous fungi found grew on deciduous trees (91.2%), only a small number (8.8%) on conifers.
