Abstract

In Croatia, the species Datura inoxia is known in a small number of localities, but the latest investigations of its distribution shows great adaptability of this species to the various conditions of soil and climate. D. inoxia is found in six localities on Murter and in the Požega valley, where it comes as an ornamental plant — in Kuzmica, Češljakovci and Kaptol from Veli Lošinj, in Vetovo and Jakšić from Hvar, in the flower — pots at Zvečevo factory, from Opatija, and in the flower-pots at St. Leopold Mandić church, from somewhere in Dalmatia, as the local people say. In each of those localities, D. inoxia came exclusively as an ornamental species, hence its cultivation has been abandoned and it now grows as an ergasiophygophyte.
