Abstract

Genetic and phenotypic variability of parameters of body weight and daily gain were estimated from many years performance test data of 770 Simmental bulls, originated from 82 sires. The method of least squares the model of fixed (systematic environmental) and random (additive genetic) influences were used as well as the model not including systematic environmental influences. ln the model not including systematic influences of heritability for body weight varied from 0.37 to 0.73 and for daily gain from 0.37 to 0.60. In the model including systematic influences heritability varied from 0.08 to 0.32 for body weight and from 0.28 to 0.39 for daily gian. Statistically significant influences of year and season on the performance test shows they should be considered with the aim of objective estimation of the selection effects on the Simmental bull fattening capabilities in our breeding conditions.
