Abstract
Entrepreneurship in primary education is one of the core competences of the European reference framework, and is implemented as a cross-curricular theme, but the research shows that the objectives of fostering entrepreneurship in primary schools is largely unrealized. In our primary education in the last twenty years there was an expansion of students' cooperatives, which represent a good example for the systematic increase of the capacity of education for entrepreneurship. Assuming that teachers - leaders of students’ cooperatives develop entrepreneurial competence among students, we conducted an empirical survey among leaders the cooperatives of the Varaždin County. The aim of the study was to determine their entrepreneurial inclinations and satisfaction, and also the success of the business leader of the cooperative. Entrepreneurial inclinations of the leaders of student cooperatives were considered to be the interest of the entrepreneurial behavior and the general feeling of success. The differences in interest in entrepreneurial behavior were tested between respondents whose had close family members as the owners of companies, and those who did not. This test showed no statistically significant difference in interest between patients with and without the owner of a business among family members, which suggests that a preference for entrepreneurial behavior is not a key factor in the formation and operation of student co-operatives as a form of extra-curricular activity. Research results show that the leaders of student cooperatives are generally satisfied with their jobs – the most satisfied with coworkers, autonomy and director.
