Abstract

The thesis aims to deconstruct and re-construct social conceptions about female criminal offenders, specifically considering violent crimes, using the example of the notorious murder of the Papin sisters. The analysis of three types of discourse – journalistic, psychoanalytic (of early Lacan) and artistic (the play of Jean Genet) – uncovers the manipulation of deficient data about the crime and questions the implications of every type of manipulation specifically, i. e. the way a discourse devours and re-creates its own subject.
