Abstract

In Croatia we have so far recorded 12 species of scale insects hosted by olive trees, from 3 different families as follows: family Asterolecanidae: Pollinia pollini (A. Costa, 1857); family Coccidae: Filippia follicularis (Targiom Tozzetti, 1867), Lichtensia viburni Signoret, 1873, Saissetia oleae (Olivier, 1791); family Diaspididae: Diaspidiotus ostreaformis, (Curtis, 1843), Epidiaspis leperii (Signoret, 1869), Hemiberlesia rapax (Comstock, 1869), Lepidosaphes flava (Signoret, 1870), Lepidosaphes ulmi (Linnaeus, 1758), Parlatoria oleae (Colvee, 1880), Leucaspis riccae, Targioni Tozzetti, 1881 and Pseudaulacaspis pentagons (Targioni Tozzetti, 1886). Of these, 12 as important olive pests in the first place should be set aside S.oleae, followed by L. viburni, L. ulmi, P. oleae, P. pentagonu to P. pollini.
