Abstract

The dry grassland association of Chrysopogon gryllus with the spruge – Euphorbia nicaeensis presents one of the forms of "chrysopogonetums" , so nomenclaturaely the name of "Chrysopogoni-Euphorbietum nicaeensis H-ić. (1956) 1958 " association should be changed into Euphorbio nicaeensi-Chrysopogonetum grylli H-ić. (1956) 1958, nom. inv. The practice to change the originally described syntaxon binom as "nomen inversum" is frequent in recent syntaxonomical literature and it is in compliance with the nomenclatural rules.
Simultaneously, the syntaxonomical analysis of the floristic composition of the said association was made based on the analytical data from Istria (Gaži-Baskova 1975, Trinajstić, n.p.) and the island of Cres (Gaži-Baskova 1975) was made wherefrom is the separate caricetosum humilis subassociation (Carex humilis, Edraianthus tenuifolius, Schoenus nigricans, Allium montanum, Scorzonera austriaca Diff. spec.) was described. So far in the floristic composition of Euphorbio-Chrysopogonetum Ass. a total of 153 taxa have been registered, among which the dominant species are in the first place Chrysopogon gryllus, Euphorbia nicaeensis, Festuca illyrica, Scorzonera villosa, Plantago holosteum, Koeleria splendens, Salvia bertolonii, Sanguisorba muricata, Knautia illyrica, Dorycnium herbaceum, Lotus corniculatus var. hirsutus and others.
