Abstract
The development of information communication technology is changing the paradigm of learning and education by implementing contemporary methods and forms of teaching based on information‐communication technology. The didactic dimension of the implementation of contemporary technologies is highlighted in the process of teaching as is the change of didactic perspective of the stakeholders in education. The contemporary teaching is based on the didactic quadrangle which includes technology along with the learner, teacher and an instructional content. The aim of this paper is to assess attitudes of students and teachers regarding the use of information communication technology in the teaching process. In order to assess attitudes and willingness of the students of the Integrated Undergraduate and Graduate Study of Primary School Education of the Faculty of Teacher Education in Rijeka (N=145) to use information and communications technology, a questionnaire with 36 questions was used. The questionnaire used for teachers from six schools located in the City of Rijeka and its surroundings (N=55) consisted of 25 questions. The results obtained from data analysis show that teachers with less work experience have more positive attitudes and are more willing to use contemporary technologies in education, whilst among the students, considering their year of study, no difference was observed. The survey results, along with examples of good practice, can serve as a proposal for the use of contemporary technology in accordance with strategies and educational policies.
