Funktionsverbgefüge in German business letters in tourism

Abstract

The syntactic constructions like Anwendung finden, Antwort geben, etc. have recently attracted the attention of a number of German linguists.
Funktionsverbgefüge (FVG), as the construction is now called, consists of the functional verb and nominal part which together form a semantic whole and express the predicate.
This paper gives the most frequent FVG in German business letters in tourism and explains their function and the reason of their usage.
