Abstract

The topic starts with a short introductory description of the fashion terminology and a given answer to a question whether the term “fashion” can be applied to the Old Egypt period. Furthermore, development and various types of clothes and shoes in Egyptian Old, Middle and New Kingdom are represented in this paper. Apart from that, hairstyles, wigs and jewellery from the period are described. The make-up used for the Egyptians’ faces, as well as their bodies, is also mentioned. The role of fashion in their everyday lives is researched through the connection of certain fashion trends with their religious and social traditions. The significance of personal hygiene and clothes in that era is demonstrated throughout a short interpretation of some Egyptian literature works.
