Abstract

In his studies of Croatian authors Ivo Franges always reveals a fine sense for the wider context into which they can be situated. His essay Searching for one’s lost childhood (U potrazi za izgubljenim djetinjstvom)
examines Miroslav Krleža’s novel The Return of Filip Lati- novicz (Povratak Filipa Latinovicza). In the analogies which he discovers
between Krleža and other major figures (Proust, Dostoevsky), Franges
interprets specific differences in terms of their place within the respective literary traditions and the cultural environments to which they belong.
