Abstract
This is a book review of Helle Strandgaard Jensen's book "From Superman to Social Realism: Children’s Media and Scandinavian Childhood". The book was published in 2017. The book gives a nuanced and detailed account of the sometimes heated public and academic debates on children’s literature, media, and culture in Scandinavia in the 1950s, 1960s, and 1980s.
