Abstract
This paper shows the results of a qualitative evaluation of the effects of self-empowerment interventions with the application of neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) in persons with psychosocial difficulties. The evaluation research was conducted in order to gain insights into the efficiency and purpose of interventions. The evaluation was based on a qualitative data collection and analysis method. The sample consisted of six participants, i.e. persons with psychosocial difficulties, who decided to participate in the self-empowerment intervention with the application of neuro-linguistic programming and the qualitative evaluation research on the effects of the conducted intervention. The data was collected within the framework of a semi-structured interview.
The results show positive effects of neuro-linguistic programming on self-empowerment of persons with psychosocial difficulties. These are manifested through increased self-insight, increased personal capacities, emotional relief, developing a positive attitude, mindfulness,
positive opinion of oneself, a more assertive approach to life and continued work on self-empowerment even after the meetings. When asked about whether they felt that the intervention was useful, the participants responded that they appreciated the fact that they had gained new knowledge and spoke favourably about the methods used.
This research has shown that NLP interventions can contribute to improving the mental health of persons with psychosocial difficulties. In order to fundamentally change the way the support models for persons with mental difficulties and/or illnesses are developed, it is important
to develop quality services and interventions consistently within the community and in cooperation with the users and evaluate their effects.
