Abstract
In the construction of humanoid robots, human-like movement is one of the most technically complex problems. There are different approaches and solutions from the implementation of electric-motors-driven limbs to the utilization of pneumatic or fluidic muscles. In the case of pneumatic muscles, an imaginative solution that applies series of air chambers. They allow soft movements that remind those of humans. New innovative solutions are moving towards the use of plastic skeletons with electro-active gels, which behave like muscle by changing their volume with the change of voltage. In this way they move a plastic or metal skeleton like one of a human being. This direction of development is the most promising one.
