Abstract

Pilates is a type of conditioning that has been used to exercise body flexibility, strengthen muscles and align body. Emphasizes spinal and pelvic alignment, respiration and development of a strong nucleus or center, and improved coordination and balance. Pilates allows you to change different exercises ranging from beginner to advanced. During the pilates movement, the focus is on strengthening and lengthening the muscles, while producing long and strong overall muscle tone. The intensity may increase over time. Many studies show the benefits of pilates in athletes training. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the use of pilates in the fitness preparation of athletes, with particular emphasis in tennis, golf, dance and skiing.
