Abstract
Two comprehensive investigations on relations between intellectual and motor abilities in Yugoslavia are described. The results of the first one show that basically two kinds of factors are responsible for the correlation between intelligence and performance speed of motor tasks. When motor situation is not a problem situation the correlation can only be explained by the speed of information flow, while in problem motor tasks the covariance is explained by the share of cognitive activity in solving the motor problem.
The isolated general cognitive factor in the second investigation was to a large extent saturated with motor abilities, normal structure of personality, desirable sociological characteristics and anthropometric status, thus indicating a possibility of existence of a general ability dimension in the anthropological space.
