Abstract

The theoretical oeuvres of Gustavo Gutiérrez, Paolo Freire and August Boal have not been interpreted so far in an overlapping context, and their theses on the emancipated mode of thinking in the humanities have rarely been contextualized at all, especially in the light of contemporary research on literary, performative or artistic phenomena. The aim of this essay is, therefore, to draw attention to the correlations in their theoretical thinking, primarily on the basis of a specific kind of relationship to the object, either in terms of the viewer, the pupil or the most widely understood recipient, i.e. recipient of knowledge and possible reader etc.
All these authors are deeply influenced by a strong Marxist note and, beyond the epistemological level, a similar historical or contextual time frame and the environment where their notion of subjectivity is established.
