MINIATURE ROBOTS FOR ENDOSCOPY

Abstract
Miniaturization of electronics' elements, optics, as well as micromechanical parts'production have enabled the use of miniature robotic devices in various fields of human activity. Their use in the field of medicine is prehaps the most interesting and useful. At the turn of the century, wireless endoscopic capsules were increasingly used for diagnosis and limited interventions in the digestive tract. Diagnosis of the entire digestive tract with these miniature robotic capsules is painless and safe, and may include areas that have not been able to be examined endoscopically so far. They are becoming more and more advanced not only in terms of the number, quality and transmission of captured images during their movement, but also they add other possibilities such as directing movement, stopping and performing various medical interventions.
