Abstract

Bioeconomy is one of the policies of the European Union that aims to strengthen economies by increasing the biomass deployment efficiency through numerous innovations and facilitate the transition to green policies through renewable carbon supply to the society. Agriculture as the primary production sector has an important role in the development of the circular and sustainable bioeconomy. The study was conducted on primary producers, members of the Croatian Chamber of Agriculture, organised in 6 focus groups, using Delphi method. Each focus group had 10 participants on average. The aim of the study was to identify barriers and propensity to innovate within the bioeconomy. The results showed the need to adjust measures and harmonize agricultural policy in accordance with the needs in practice, improved cooperation between producers, logistics infrastructure, transfer of information and knowledge to empower farmers to recognise opportunities for growth that circular and sustainable bioeconomy offers.
