Abstract

People are faced daily with making various financial decisions such as loans, savings, and insurance. If such financial decisions are made wrong, they can have an impact on the quality of life of the individual and the rest of the family. Therefore, to successfully manage one’s finances, it is necessary to financially literate all groups of citizens in the Republic of Croatia to acquire financial competencies that have become necessary for life today. The financial literacy test checks the level of information, financial behavior, attitudes and beliefs, and specific financial knowledge. Given that the Government of the Republic of Croatia 2015 established a low level of financial literacy of citizens compared to other EU members, there is a need to implement a financial literacy project that lasted from 2015 to 2020 and further implementation is expected in the period from 2021 to 2026. If we view financial literacy as a project, it is important to identify the individual process groups of the project that have been implemented, to establish its effectiveness. On this track, this paper contains a theoretical basis for project management and project management process groups that better understand and analyze the already implemented financial literacy project in the Republic of Croatia, all to gain insight into possible recommendations for improving future financial literacy projects.
