Abstract
By the studies of the structures of the postabdomen of the genus Bengalia Robineau-Desvoidy 1830, one delimited a new family, Bengaliidae. The characters which definisent this family are: the head is very depressed antero-posterior; the eyes are very lengthened; haustellum is short, large, rigid and has small suction cups and armies with rigid spines and long hairs; the tergite VI is not visible in continuation of the tergite V, but it is in the interior of tergite VII+VIII, like a rudimentary sclerite; the sternite VI a form of an incomplete ring and it is formed by two hemisternites welded; tergite VII+VIII (the genital tergite) does not result from the fusion of segments VII and VIII, the sternite VII being pierced in continuity of the sternite VI and the sternite VIII being at the base of the phallosome theca; the sternite IX constitutes the origin of the phallopodema (as at Calliphoridae and Sarcophagidae); the totality of the components of the copulator organ itself derives from the metamorphosis of the tergite IX (as at Calliphoridae and Sarcophagidae); the sternite X is represented by the „processi longi“ or „bacilliform scllerites“, which is biarticuled; the paralobes are biarticuled; the phallosome has a distinct and very different configuration from that from Calliphoridae.
